Easy to throw your barbs
At a self-confessed soft target
All too easy to ignore
That you are far from being without sin
It's a useful strategy, to deflect
Criticism from your own foibles
By highlighting the faults of others
Shine in contrast to the darkness elsewhere
Shout loudest, drown out the doubts within
And the words of those who might question
Your own morality, your own transgressions
But, when all is done, you can't escape from who you are
