Mist rising from the calm waters, softening the image of the coastline as it curves away to the horizon, making it seem distant, another country almost, one where impressionist artists might roam.
Seagulls bobbing in the barely perceptible swell, like miniature boats at anchor, white sails furled. Egrets stilt walking in the tidal shallows, probing here and there for fragments of edible life.
Fisherman on the sea wall, casting left-handed, dreams of the one that won't get away.
Holidaymakers, seeking out the last rays of evening sunshine, being painted by its honeyed glow, stroll along the promenade.
My eyes drink in the beauty of the scenes, driving away the cares of the world, at least for a short while.
The restorative power of the sea.
